The Introduction
This site is primarily an attempt to keep in touch more efficiently with people I like/who happen to stumble on this site serendipitously. Now I’ve avoided starting a blog all these years for several reasons, some of which include: 1) I hate joining bandwagons, and usually try to hold out for as long as I can until I finally jump in wholeheartedly; 2) I’m lazy and couldn’t be bothered; 3) I’m moody when it comes to writing, and need to be in the right frame of mind and in the right setting to be able to write something that pleases me (which sometimes may not occur for ages); 4) I don’t usually like to talk about myself too much; 5)something about the practice of blogging strikes me as mildly narcissistic and self-indulgent; 6) some mild submerged insecurities and self-consciousness and being afraid my counter will never cross the double digits or people will find this uninteresting; 7) I have never fully reconciled myself to the fact that I do actually live in the 21st century; 8) I don’t like the reductionist finality of trying to have who I am contained within a few posts on some random page on the internet; 9) the whole idea of journaling so the rest of the world can see seems to defeats the purpose of journaling for me.
But then one day I thought, it might be interesting to try this, and this seems like an opportune time since I’m starting this new adventure and all (living in New York City for the next 12 months while sometimes finding time to work on a Masters in international educational development in my spare time), and I really do want to keep in touch with all the people I care about and none of whom will be near me, and this might be a more feasible option than promising to write hundreds of emails I will never get around to. Reasons 2, 3 and 4 (above) may prevent me from updating regularly; reasons 5 to 9 I will suck up and get over. And hopefully this won’t lapse into this big spiral of self-absorbed ranting and obsessing about things no one else cares about, but will provide you with something mildly interesting to muse on, be amused by, be encouraged or challenged or thought-provoked or distracted by, or at the very least, provide you with a little window into my world.
So enjoy, do write comments or email me back (‘cos that’s your half of the whole keeping in touch idea), and I’ll try and do my best. At least I have working in my favour the fact that I’m an incorrigible night-owl…

okay... here's my real comment. Suzana, your adventures sound soul searchingly satisfying. Your life is like a movie ;) I'm so glad you have a blog, even if it is narcissistic. lol. jk. I figure why not post your reflections and thoughts if it will help a weary soul like mine find entertainment and inspiration? MUAH! Enjoy the city and take lots of pictures.
love Mary
Oh PS keep writing all inhibitions and reservations aside ;)
Suzy Q - Here's to you! So glad you overrode the first 9 reasons that would dissuade you from being a blogger, and stuck to the tenth. Sharing your thoughts with people you care about, by opening a little window into your world, is effective in bridging time and space, the only window a Cyberdad can browse, to get to know his only loving daughter.
poosie!
u have not changed! you can read this out to me and i can say without knowing that its u!
