Just an average day in New York City...

So yesterday afternoon I was sitting at my desk innocently trying to get some work done on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon when I was rudely interrupted by the sound of people yelling outside my window. I look outside and it turns out it was Brad Pitt who was yelling outside my window. You can't very well get mad for being interrupted when it's Brad Pitt that's yelling outside your window. He was yelling at a car that was passing by. Then the car reversed itself and Brad Pitt yelled once more as it passed by again. Then the whole process repeated itself over again, and a few more times after that. Oh and there were also a bunch of cameras and folding chairs and paparazzi and a big crowd of onlookers standing and watching. And every time Brad Pitt would finish yelling at the passing car, everyone would start clapping. Apparently they decided to film the latest Coen brothers movie right outside my window at I-House. So on my way out yesterday I also bumped into Joel and Ethan Coen and John Malkovich. Unfortunately George Clooney who's also in the movie decided not to show up for work yesterday...that slacker.

This morning I woke up to the sound of them at it again.

Then I went to work and saw a huge crowd of cop cars everywhere. It turns out the UN General Assembly just went into session and this week is when they have the big high level meetings, so all the big presidents from countries around the world are over at the UN Headquarters where I work, so all day long there was crazy security and police cars going up and down the streets and whole streets barricaded and security guards checking IDs to make sure no one gets assassinated or anything.

Then after work on my way home I stopped by Bryant Park midtown where there's a big 4-day Indian cultural festival being held here in NY to celebrate india's 60 years of independence. This evening they put up a concert by Remo, a popular Indian pop/rock star, who happens to be an old college buddy of my dad's from Goa. So I got to say hi to him backstage after the show, amidst the crowd of crazy Indian fans who rushed him to try and get their picture taken with him after the show.

A pretty interesting day, all in all, I would say.

I wonder who I'll bump into tomorrow...

can you make sure to let Clooney's people know that he's got to show up to work around Nov 9th? THANKS!

(wait a sec, maybe that's the day he got in that motorcycle accident...)

Surreal. I must say though, your life does sound not unenviable.

Cheers,

Gabes...what would I do without you as my unfailing source of celebrity gossip updates? You're right, he did just have an accident the previous day! I withdraw any aspersions I may have cast on George Clooney's work ethic.

Oh believe me, Mr. Banks, it gets even more surreal than that.
Day before yesterday I sat in the same room as half of the presidents of the world. That was pretty weird.
Actually, many of them looked like they were falling asleep.
You'd think there would be some sort of minimum requirement on public speaking skills before someone gets to be president...

Thanks Andrew Michael Jacobs! Where have you disappeared to anyway? I still have no evidence that you do in fact live here. Dont forget, it's beneficial to eat once in a while! Lemme know if you're heading down to the cafeteria sometime and you need someone to sit with :)
